Botanist Research Page

A Botanist is someone who studies plants.  As a botanist, your job in this webquest is to do some research to learn everything you can about plants.  Here are some questions to guide you in your search.  Feel free to add more questions or information to your journal as you study.  Use the Internet, encyclopedias, your Science textbook, and trade books.  You may even want to interview a local botanist.

Questions to guide your research:

1.  Why are plants called "producers"?

2.  What do plants need to survive?

3.  How do plants get energy?

4.  How do plants get their "food" to grow and reproduce?

5.  How do plants reproduce?

6.  How and why do plants give off oxygen?

7.  What kinds of plants are found in each of earth's biomes (tundra, taiga, temperate forest, tropical rainforest, desert, and water)?

8.  What happens to plants when they die?
