Dear Parents
and
Students,
February 1, 2012
Third
quarter is off and running!! We just past the 100th day of
school. Can you believe that we are half way
finished with this school year? Where has the year gone?
Our
class has begun our study of Missouri History. Be asking
your students daily what they are learning about our great state
of Missouri. We have started our study with the land of
Missouri and we will finish up our Missouri Study in May
with the Mark Twain's play Tom Sawyer. What exciting thing to come!! Check out
our Missouri
page to keep up with what we are learning.
Students are learning to use lattice and partial product methods
of long multiplication. It is always a lot of fun for me
to see how excited the students get when they work out long
multiplication problems on their own, and when they realize that by
using these two methods there really isn't a multiplication
problem they can not do!! We are continuing to work toward
taking our MAP test in April. Click on the following links
for
MAP Resources and additional
MAP questions.
Our class is working hard on meeting our AR goals for 3rd
quarter. We
have almost reached the 100 point mark in Reading Counts.
For every 100 books our class reads we earn a Read -n- Feed.
Continue to encourage your child to read and take test daily.
We will be having our Valentine's Day party on Monday, February
14th. Be sure to check out What's
Happening
and
the Classroom
News links
to keep up with what's happening in our classroom.
Happy
Valentines,
Ms.
Kelso
